Trybson Overtakes Dbanj,9ice And Wande Coal On The Internet

As Stingomania All Stars Hits #1 On The Reverbnation.Com Charts

In a dramatic development that speaks volumes of what is about to become a war for worldwide lovers of Hip Hop between the upstart STINGOMANIA RECORDS and its new generation artistes and the much more established Don Jazzy led MO HITS RECORDS, Stingomania records appeared to have drawn the first blood on who is king of music marketing on the internet.

A recent internet announcement and publication of the latest MUSIC CHARTS released by the highly respected and independent international music rating website WW.REVERBNATION.COM, operated by a group of companies based in the USA, Canada and UK, showed that the Stingomania-All -Stars INTERNET-ONLY release album titled A LA CARTE has risen to the #1 position on the HIP HOP Charts for Nigeria artistes on that site. The shocking domination of the international chart by Stingomania records was a stunning development due to the fact that Weird MC, Dbanja, Kel, Wande Coal and Mo-Hits All stars albums were all previously on that reverbnation.com chart with Weird MC as #1 for the last 3 months.

In the same latest chart release by reverbnation.com, Trybson’s DUDUKOKO Album also leapfrogged and then dusted industry giants like Dbanj, Wande Coal etc on the HIP HOP charts in the 3rd week of January with Trybson appearing at #8 on the hiphop chart while Dbanj was dropped to #13 on the same hiphop Charts for Nigerian artistes. Interested fans can verify these results at www.reverbnation.com .

The Stingomania All Stars album, A LA CARTE and Trybson’S DUDUKOKO album are being used by the marketing guru CEO as the secret-weapons for marketing on the internet. The A LA CARTE album included tracks from 9 of the artistes on its label including the wave-making Trybson Dudukoko, Baba Nee, Naturah, U.S based EMX, Aydu Amah, Whichlevelz and Obesere (surprising everyone with a hit hip hop single GBOSE YEN WO).

When contacted Ope Banwo, CEO of Stingomania Records said ‘we are very much aware that the internet is the next frontier for music marketing. It is the new arena for the creative to make money from music marketing and distribution. As local records distribution and marketing continue to suffer in the doldrums with decreased royalties for artistes, it is obvious that a great money maker for artistes is now the world wide web where our albums are selling for $12.99 (about N1,800) for a DIGITAL DOWNLOAD’. According to Ope Banwo ‘the possibilities for music marketing on the internet are mind-boggling. Imagine selling one album for N1,800 with no packaging, no replication, no advert costs, no radio PR, no expensive music video, and no physical transportation. Its all pure profit since you only uploaded a digital copy of the file”. This is even more stunning since we have not even launched this album physically in Nigeria. At this rate we may not even do it for at least 6 months. We are promoting it exclusively online at places such as reverbnation.com and tradebit.com. People can buy a single track or the full album.

When asked how it was possible for Stignomania All Stars album to overtake Mo Hits All Stars album and other great albums from heavy hitting musicians like Wande Coal, Dbanj, 9ice etc on the internet, Ope Banwo said ‘the internet is a leveler. There are billions of people out there who have not heard of anybody from Nigeria before. It is the person with the savvy and creativity to put his songs before them that will get his songs listened to and sold. Dbanj and Wande Coal may rule the physical album sales but the majority of music fans on the internet outside Nigeria do not know who is hot until someone tells them.” He also pointed out that he spent most of last year putting up the structures that will allow him to rule the internet such as the free Fanbooks for stars initiative and the facebook groups development initiatives. Ope Banwo continued “Now we have at our fingertips over 20,000 people we can promote to directly online and who can also help us promote our stuff to people on their own lists in places we have never heard of before. 2010 is certainly going to be a great year for all musicians as they all get involved in the internet gold rush and we intend to be right in the forefront”.
